Since our factory was built in 2020, we have achieved a lot
10x Revenue
Compared to the time before the factory was built, we have increased our turnover more than tenfold.
Our products are now available on five continents.
300+ direct jobs
Meanwhile, our factory has created over 300 direct and qualified jobs. All employees receive many times the minimum wage, health and pension insurance, as well as free meals and transportation to work.
Cocoa from agroforestry
We are on our journey to climate positivity. Our cocoa comes from a Dynamic Agroforestry (DAF) system, where we can sequester up to 3x more CO2 in the soil over the long term than is emitted throughout the entire value chain.
The background to the expansion of our factory
How's the order situation?
We are currently experiencing very high demand across all our business areas. In 2025 alone, we almost doubled our revenue, and there were many more inquiries.
The handmade chocolates and chocolate as an ingredient sectors, in particular, are growing rapidly.
Why is a new building needed?
Our production has been growing for almost six years. In the
handmade products sector alone, over 150 people work in shifts
around the clock to produce chocolate-covered dried fruits and nuts. But
we are slowly reaching our limits:
Space is getting tight for additional workstations in the
current premises. Yet there are so many people who want to become part of our
mission – for every open position, over 100 interested people apply. What we lack is space.
With a new building, we create space for more jobs, more impact, and the opportunity to further develop our production – so that even more people can benefit from fair value creation and
sustainable growth.
What exactly does the factory expansion entail?
Our premises offer ample space for an additional building, which we can build directly adjacent to our current production building. The infrastructure is already in place – electricity, water, and internet are already connected – allowing us to expand quickly, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
This enables us to optimally integrate the new production area into our existing operations.
What is the timeframe?
We have already proven that we can build quickly and reliably: We completed our entire factory in just under five months in 2020 – from the groundbreaking ceremony to the first finished chocolate bar.
As soon as the financing is in place, we expect the new building to be built in just a few months as well.
What impact should be achieved?
With the new production building, we want to take the next big step: In the next three years, we plan to create over 250 additional jobs and triple our sales.
This will not only grow our production – but above all, our impact for all people along the value chain.

Who is behind fairafric?
fairafric's owners include the founding team, our 1244 customer shareholders, Ludwig Weinrich GmbH, claro fair trade AG, Third Way Capital (a Ghanaian impact investor), as well as our team and the cocoa farmers of our partner cooperative.
When will the break-even point be reached?
fairafric AG achieved profitability by the end of 2025. From 2026, we also expect the fairafric Group to operate profitably. The exact timing of this depends heavily on the development of the world market price for cocoa.
Can one view this in person?
With our new Visitor Center, we also want to give our customers the opportunity to gain a deep insight into our operations. In 2025 alone, more than 1,800 people visited us. The factory tour is combined with a visit to our cocoa communities, all in one day!
